We will be hosting traditional Hindu pre-wedding events, and we would love for you to celebrate with us. These events are informal and relaxed, you are welcome to join at any point that suits you. 1:00pm – KATHA This is a ritual that is often performed before a wedding to bring prosperity and success to the couple. 4:00pm – PITHI The Pithi ceremony is where turmeric paste is applied to the couple by their nearest and dearest to remove impurities and make them glow for their wedding day. 5:00pm – MEHENDI (HENNA) NIGHT During the course of the evening all woman are welcome to have Mehendi applied on their hands. TRANSPORT The location is a 25-minute walk or 5-minute cab from Morden tube station PARKING There will be plenty of free street parking outside the house DRESS CODE Smart Casual. On the Sunday, the traditional pre-wedding events continue. Again, this isn’t compulsory but we would love to have you there if possible. 1:00pm – SAATAK The Saatak is a ceremony to seek the blessings of the Gods and to invite Lord Ganesh to remove obstacles from the couple’s path. The ritual is intended to ensure a happy and prosperous married life. 2:00pm – MOSALU The Brothers (and their Wives) of the Bride and Groom’s Mothers will together bring the wedding outfits of the Bride and Groom, along with clothing for the family. 3:00pm – TEA & LIGHT SNACKS TRANSPORT The location is a 25-minute walk or 5-minute cab from Morden tube station. The nearest train station is Farnham, which is 55 minutes by train from London Waterloo, and then an 8-minute taxi drive from the venue. DRESS CODE Smart dress. Indian wear is optional. This could either be formal sari or lehenga for women and kurtas for men. If you need any advice on this, please let us know. ACCOMMODATION There are a range of lodges to accommodate everyone on-site at Northbrook Park. Should you want to stay on site (which we encourage you to), this will be to check in Monday 25th August and check out Wednesday 27th August.
