If you’re reading this, you obviously know either Oliver or Brooke, and (should) know that we both have an ear for music. Within the music building at Iowa (Voxman), Brooke also happened to have an eye for Oliver! The two met on the fourth floor after orchestra rehearsal grabbing music for the next concert cycle. They continued to see one another around campus, both riding their bikes to Voxman, and running around in the same circle of people within Veritas at the Salt Company! As time went by, Oliver continued school and Brooke graduated (Fall 2021) and started her job as an orchestra teacher. Her and Oliver’s paths crossed only a handful of times over the next few years. The first notable time was at an event called “Veritas Creative” in the lobby of Veritas Church, where Oliver, Brooke, and their friend Marissa arranged and performed two worship songs for two violas and a cello (May 2022). (Should also note, Brooke still thought Oliver was super cute!) Fast forward many many years later to the Summer of 2024. Brooke was bored and planned a month long trip abroad because no one was asking her out on a date UNTIL Oliver Lane Yoder himself worked up the (shaky) nerves to ask Brooke for coffee whilst dancing together at DanceMor in Swisher, IA. Their first date was on June 29th, and they managed to squeeze in two more dates before Brooke’s overseas departure. The two remained in contact with each other, and when Brooke returned in early August, Oliver asked her to be his girlfriend on August 6th. Oliver proposed to Brooke on February 9th at her grandparent’s house, and managed to keep it a surprise from her, which was rather remarkable! We are SUPER excited to celebrate with you all on August 2nd of this year!
