20 years in the making

Its 2001: Britney and Justin are together, Weezer drops the green album, Ross and Rachel are having a baby, and Dave Rogowski transfers to Loyola Academy. Nobody would ever suspect a locker assignment next to Molly would lead to anything more. Never speaking - not even a “have a good weekend” pleasantry - Molly and Dave graduated from high school never thinking about each other again. Until one spring semester day at St. Louis University, Molly sees her old locker-mate making his way down campus. Slightly confused yet (still) unmotivated to say something, she wonders why this guy keeps showing up randomly at school. After ignoring each other for a few more months, some liquid inspiration at the local (only) campus bar - Molly yells out a blatant “YOU KNOW ME” to Dave - ending years of playing the “we-don’t-know-each-other-but-you-know-exactly-who-I-am” game. A friendship grew out of love for the Chicago Cubs and hatred toward the STL Cardinals, Seinfeld quotes, hockey team parties, and actual classmates. Molly working toward a sociology degree and Dave lost on his way to another class, both ended up enrolled in the course MARRIAGE & FAMILY. (Jokes on them) Again Molly and Dave graduate and go their separate ways. Off to Chicago, St. Louis, Korea, Philly, China, and Denver. Keeping in touch over the years, and growing closer as Molly’s life gets extra tricky, Dave and Molly’s relationship digs deeper as confidants and actual friends. ICYMI: 2016 the Cubs win the World Series. After peeling her feet off the champagne soaked bar floor, Molly could barely remember her own name but knew she had to call her favorite Cubs fan. You guessed it: Dave Rogowski. Just over a year later the once high school locker-mates agreed they were actual real life-mates. It’s 2021: Britney wins her conservatorship fight, and Dave asks Molly to marry him. A lot can happen in 20 years, and we couldn’t be happier together…. and for Britney.
