This romantic couple met for the first time in a haunted house their sophomore year at Liberty. Both were working at Scaremare in rooms next to each other for CSER credit; Collin as an insane asylum inmate, and Emma as a half-dead, blown up factory worker. As romantic as that meet-cute was, both left that night not expecting to ever see the other again. But God knew what He was doing, because coincidentally, Emma was best friends with Claudia, who had been friends with Collin since freshman year. She tagged Emma in a mid-semester post on Instagram and Collin recognized her (shocking without all the fake blood and face paint), and reached out to try to get to know her more. For the next month, they would hang out as a group (the two of them and Claudia) at football games, game nights, the Rot, the library, and any other chances Collin could convince Emma to come out of her dorm (she was always busy with homework and projects…. honestly….). Poor Claudia was stuck as the third wheel and sometimes played messenger between the two - encouraging Collin not to give up, and telling Emma to figure out if she likes him or not. By Thanksgiving Break, Collin finally asks Emma out on a real date. To no one's surprise (except Collin’s), she accepts. The excited pair goes to Starbucks for coffee and have a great time with very few awkward silences (thank the Lord). By this point, Emma finally knew she liked him. Collin had known he liked her for a while, but was more than willing to give her the time to make up her mind. After such a successful first date, the pair decided to go on a couple more and would begin to start hanging out without Claudia as the mutual friend. Like baby birds, they were slowly flying farther from the tree (Claudia) and were entering a whole new world (...love I guess?). As the semester came to a close, Collin realized that there would be an entire month of not seeing Emma and she would have an entire month to find another guy back home, which would result in a very sad Collin (Emma would never do such a thing). So the decision was made to make it official. Collin, in all of his wisdom, (which is to say, none) decided he would ask the very night before she left for the break. 10 o'clock at night, heading back to the dorm, Collin turns to Emma and says extremely romantically, “So… what are we? Are we official?”. Collin is not a very smart dating man. But thankfully, Emma says yes and the official relationship between the two begins. From this point, they would continue dating for two more years, Emma would graduate college, and Collin would start his final year at Liberty. Then finally on a not-so-cold winter night, Collin would ask Emma if she would do him the honor of marrying him. She said yes!
