Los Angeles. Marina Del Rey. A chill January evening. Light wind brought fresh air to his apartment, a fly to his cat and a new message from couchsurfing to his phone. It was a request from a girl asking to stay at his place for one night that turned to an unexpected love story. Two people from different countries - Syria and Russia - met in magical LA and ever since they’ve been together. That were us. And even Frank Sinatra was wondering: “what were the chances?!” Our love has been going through many difficult circumstances and long distance but every day it grows stronger and deeper and soon with your presence we’ll get married and live together as one.
So we became friends and three weeks later Ghassan asked me out. We were walking, talking and laughing and Ghassan said that he has a feeling that he wants to take me to Vegas right now and marry me. I didn’t believe it and just took it as a joke. That was a wrong decision and life separated us for a year. One day (one year later) when we met again and were traveling in Sweden and we took a road trip to The North Sea. On the way back I saw a beautiful field of snowdrops, my favorite flower. I asked Ghassan to stop by to enjoy the view and take some pictures with the snowdrops. While I was taking pictures I heard him say: “Can I ask you a question”? I said: “Why am I so stupid?” (I thought he will ask something like this because I was taking many selfies). I turned to him and saw him laying down next to me with the ring in his hands and he said: “Would you marry me?” Yes!
