Our Story (Julia's Version)(10 minute version): So one night I was scrolling Tinder and I clearly had my range set for way too far because I matched with this kid that lived an hour away. I remember nothing from Ryan's profile other than this one photo where he is holding a box that I would later find out had his toiletries in it because he was too stubborn to buy a toiletries bag (years later I bought one for him, he loves it). Highlights from the first date include Ryan telling me he had Aaron Sorkin's email (this WOOED me), him parallel parking my car for me, and a long pause after which he looked at me and said.. you're really funny. It's a wonder I didn't fall in love right then and there. The thing that was so easy about that first date, and has been easy every day since, is that right away it felt like we had been friends forever. Five years to the day of that date, Ryan got down on one knee and asked for forever. The truth is, I had said yes to that long ago. Our Story (Ryan's Version)(from the vault): Julia admitted that she still hadn’t seen the final three episode of the West Wing. It was our first date, and about an hour in at this Irish pub, Julia not quite proudly, said that while she’d rewatched the West Wing countless times, she refused to watch the final three episodes. “Well, because then it’s over.” I found this intoxicatingly infuriating. And that kinda sums up Julia and I. I love the way she just drives me up the wall. Then there’s the considerate care, endless patience, and invigorating encouragement she shows. They stay ever-present, even in my lowest moment. (Also I deeply enjoy whenever people meet Julia for the first time and go “Wait, that’s HER? She has tattoos and blue hair?!?”)
