We're getting married!

IT'S HAPPENING!

How We Met

From Doreen

Anthony had a band-aid on his nose because he had a pimple and didn't want to "attract attention to it." I kept trying to rip it off his nose, for fun. Then I thought how fun it was to mess with him, so then I was attracted. A few months after that, we were going to go out after work for a liquid breakfast. I was finished with everything, but Anthony wasn't. He suggested to meet up after and gave me his phone number. In the end, I didn't go, but I kept texting him. Eventually, I asked him to have dinner with me one night. I already knew he was at home doing nothing, so that was good. I got mixed feelings from him, and I wasn't sure if he liked me or not, but I kept texting him. At last, I basically invited myself over to his house with my dog. Now, Anthony gets hot very easily, so I knew he was nervous because I found him wearing long pajama pants, covered in a thick blanket in the middle of summer, and was drinking beer "just because." He barely moved when we were there (later on, he told me he didn't move because he would have started sweating). There, he hugged me and kissed me on the cheek. FINALLY! I knew what he was feeling. After a few months, we made it official.

How We Met

Husband Edition

So, I was asked by my fiancé to put my side of this love story. The night that started this journey and the morning for liquid breakfast days/weeks later explained by Dory will not be explained from my point of view. My story will start before going to dinner with Dory. The following days after giving my number to Dory, we have texted each other every day; including when one of us is at work and the other off. When we both worked the same night, I noticed something going on. I noticed Dory was hitting on me so subtly that it caught me by surprised. After that night, it became more frequent to where it was more noticeable to me. I even asked another coworker what’s going on. After going to the conclusion that Dory like me that’s when I had to process everything. The night we had dinner was the night the text messages went from daily to almost every hour, especially when we’re not at work. Days after she asked me if she can come over to my house. She did with her dog. That night I hugged her and kissed her cheek and from then on, we became official.

The Proposal

From Doreen

Before any planning, we both agreed that getting my parents' approval was more important. So finally, we decided a day to ask them for their blessing. We thought it would be easier to ask my parents separately (IT WAS NOT). First up: dearest mother. I took my mom and Mochi out to Downtown Summerlin for shopping and lunch, where we met up with Anthony. During lunch, Anthony kept checking his heart rate on his watch. He was getting closer and closer to SVT. He was sweating. He was near death. Ten minutes had passed, then twenty, then thirty. Finally, I said, "Ma, Anthony has something to ask you." And then he asked, to which she said said, "Yes," with no hesitation. For my dad, we went out to Kkulmat Korean Kitchen, a nice family restaurant with minimal interruption. We were done eating, and Anthony, once again, nearly died. He kept checking his heart rate. My brother had already figured it out by this point (especially because Anthony had been fidgeting awkwardly the entire time). EVENTUALLY, Anthony told my dad he had something to ask. "What is it? IS IT SERIOUS?" My dad asked. "Yardy yas," Anthony responded. "Can I have your blessing to marry your daughter?" With no hesitation, my dad said "Yes, of course." Then Anthony went stress shopping and bought a bunch of things at Macy's.

The Proposal

Husband Edition

The proposal… the one thing I thought was a good idea at the time but ended up a very stressful one. We both agreed to get her parent’s blessing before we started planning. I suggested I ask them separately (which sounded like a good idea at the time). So I met up with Dory, her mom and her dog at Downtown Summerlin for lunch at SkinnyFats. While waiting for our order to arrive, Dory asked me when I was going to ask. I said nothing but I kept thinking about how to ask. Sadly the more I thought about it my heart started racing more and more. I was so nervous that I checked my watch and my heart rate was in the 140 – 150s without coffee. After eating lunch, it took me a while to say it. Once I asked, Dory’s mom said “yes” with no hesitation. I ended up stress shopping at Macy’s after that. Later that evening, at a Korean restaurant, I was with Dory and her family. This time I had to ask her Dad. What I felt earlier that day happened again that evening. It took me a while to ask. I did not say “yardy yas” when her dad asked me if the question was serious. Once I asked, his reply was “yes, of course” with no hesitation. That whole day was the most stressful time for me, but asking for their blessing has lead us to where we are now.
