Things To Do

One of our favorite things about New England is that you can make a day trip out of almost anywhere. From Portsmouth, you can easily travel to different points in Southern Maine in 15-45 minutes or be in Boston in a little over a hour. Portsmouth itself is a quaint walking town with award winning restaurants, entertainment, and shopping. Southern Maine is right next door. In 20 minutes you can be strolling along the breathtaking cliff walk on Marginal Way in Ogunquit or drive 35 minutes to the scenic seaside town of Kennebunkport. In a 45 minute drive from Portsmouth, you could also visit the historic Old Port waterfront in Portland, ME. You can't go wrong with any of these options, all make a great day of exploring and making memories! We have included some of our favorite Portsmouth & Maine restaurants below.

Things to Do - Portsmouth

Portsmouth offers so many great restaurants and things to do! Some popular places are: Strawberry Banke Museum - This is an outdoor history museum. It is the oldest neighborhood in New Hampshire to be settled by Europeans, and the earliest neighborhood remaining in the present-day city of Portsmouth. Prescott Park - This is a 10 acre park along the waterfront with beautiful gardens that makes for a great stroll. USS Albacore Museum - Here you can tour the USS Albacore which is a research submarine that was designed by the U.S. Navy to test experimental features used in modern submarines.

Things to Do - Southern Maine

Some of our personal favorite spots in Maine are: The Cliff House - This is a hotel that's perfect for a delicious lunch and beautiful view. It's a perfect pair for a day trip to downtown Ogunquit, a walk along Marginal way, or a visit to Perkins Cove. Kennebunkport - Here you can find plenty of locally owned shops and delicious restaurants. Ogunquit - This is a small seaside town where there are many locally owned shops and great restaurants. Perkins Cove - We love to park in downtown Ogunquit and take a beautiful walk along the cliff on Marginal Way over to Perkins Cove. The total walk is about 1.25 miles. However, you can also park in Perkins Cove if you prefer to drive. Perkins Cove used to be a small fishing and artists' community. There are small, locally owned shops, scenic view points, and great restaurants. There is also a lobstering boat cruise that you can take from here that is a quick, fun experience (just be sure to reserve tickets ahead of time). Kittery Outlets
