Lena and Zach met during their sophomore English class in high school. They spent the year as friends until Zach decided to ask Lena to be his girlfriend on May 11, 2012. As a young couple, they experienced many challenges in their relationship - with that challenge being a 4-year long distance relationship while Lena was away at college. Zach attended San Jose State University, where he got his BS in Psychology. Lena attended Sonoma State University and received a BA in Liberal Studies and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. During those four years apart, Lena and Zach would try to visit each other a much as possible. Zach made the effort to come see her perform at basketball games when she was on her college's dance team and even attended multiple sorority formals throughout that time. Despite the difficulty of the two being apart so frequently, the long distance only brought them closer together. Upon graduating college, Zach went on to start his Master's in Research and Experimental Psychology and was accepted into an internship at NASA Ames to complete his thesis. He recently graduated in December 2020 and has signed a contract with NASA. Lena accepted a 4th grade teaching position for Fremont Unified School District and is now in her third year of teaching. On June 21, 2019, Zach proposed to Lena while they were on a week long SoCal road trip. The two were walking along the ocean on a bluff trail at Montana de Oro state park in Los Osos when he popped the question. The couple is so excited about their next journey as a married couple, and are so excited that you will be there to celebrate this special occasion!
