Nick had recently moved back to Syracuse from Glens Falls. To build a sense of community for himself Nick joined an adult slowpitch summer softball league. Through the league, Nick made lots of friends, but two very important ones. Brielle, who would later introduce Nick and Eden, and Ted, one of Nick's groomsmen. Meanwhile, Eden had started her dream job as an RN in the pediatric emergency department at Upstate Medical University. As she settled into her new work environment she became close with the famous and previously mentioned, Brielle. Nick & Eden first met casually the day after Christmas 2015. Brielle and Eden had a long and stressful night at work. Eden's top priority that night was to spend time with her girlfriend and unpack a long day over a cocktail. It wasn't until a few weeks later that Eden stopped into the Retreat where Brielle & Nick were having a drink that things really started to happen! Eden was immediately interested in Nick. Once she got a more formal introduction to Nick she was intent in making sure that Nick was aware of her interest. Nick did not pick up on the not-so-subtle moves Eden made to inch closer to his chair, "casually" touch his arm, and laugh at his punny jokes (which Eden still finds genuinely hilarious). It took several of these attempts for Nick to realize that Eden might actually be flirting with him and trying to get his attention! The next time they saw Brielle both Eden & Nick took the opportunity to get the "scoop" on one another. Brielle was kind enough (and by that we mean over the moon) to set up a few casual group meetings. Soon after Nick made a point to ask Eden on a date. A little surprised by the unknown state of intention Eden experienced in her young adult dating life she eagerly agreed to go. After that first date, it wasn't long until Eden & Nick were spending as much time together as possible and building a friendship as the foundation of their relationship. And, as they say, the rest is history!
