How We Met

Daryl and I met in January 2018 just like any 20 something adult...online. He ended up calling me the same night and I recognized the location his number popped up with. Turned out he was from Waxahachie, where I was currently living! About a week goes by and Daryl asks (practically begs 😉) me to hang out. We meet and hit it off really well. I still remember thinking how handsome I thought he was. Afterwards, he had to go on a business trip to Indiana for 10 days and our relationship grew over the phone. Daryl sent me the most beautiful bouquet of flowers and from then on, he had me hooked! 🥰 Two and a half years later, we’re engaged! ❤️

How He Popped the Question

We were on vacation with my family down in North Padre Island. It was his 28th birthday and I wanted to take him out that evening for a birthday dinner. We couldn’t make reservations anywhere and since COVID was steadily increasing, they were only allowing 50% of people into restaurants. After going by three different restaurants, I could tell Daryl was getting angsty and was very adamant about having a good place to watch the sunset. I was obviously oblivious to this extreme effort to watch the sun go down. We drive down about 20 minutes to Malaquite Beach and find the perfect spot where the beach was on one side of the sand dunes and the sunset was on the other. Daryl tells me to set up my phone to video us so we can take a photo with the sun going down and we’d screenshot it later. I could tell he was a little nervous but I didn’t think too much of it. He told me how much he loved me to which I reciprocated those feelings. He then told me to turn around and pick a sunflower, a dead one at that (LOL), and when I turned back around he was down on one knee with the ring in hand. I, of course, shrieked with excitement and said “YES!” On our way back to the hotel, Daryl pulled over and showed me a Cameo he had gotten made from Aaron Watson telling us congratulations and how excited he was for us. We drove back to my family and shared the news with them. My niece and nephew greeted us with confetti poppers and my sister had a cookie cake made for us. Daryl made the night so special and I am so thankful for him!
