James and Kim initially met junior year, when they were in the same discussion class at UNR. Kim wondered why James would continuously raise his hand during class, often making them end late. Meanwhile, James sat across the room admiring Kim's beauty. James developed a crush on Kim, although they never spoke. After finals, Kim went to meet up with their mutual friend, Charlie, at the famous UNR watering hole, Imperial. Upon arriving, Kim noticed that the gentleman who was so vocal during her Core Humanities class was there hanging out with Charlie's group. They quickly struck up a conversation and Kim was naturally drawn to James' warm demeanor and charming good looks. James was excited about the opportunity to finally talk to his crush. Some might say fate brought them together that night at Imperial. Almost a year later, James and Kim bumped into each other at The Little Waldorf, their Thursday night hangout. After that night, they began chatting casually and Kim finally gave into accepting James' formal invitation for a date. Their first date at La Vecchia was romantic and sweet. After graduating from UNR together, they studied abroad in Europe for 5 months, which further strengthened their relationship. Upon returning home, they started their young professional lives together and later moved to Austin, TX where they currently reside. 9 years in and they are excited to officially start their next chapter together.
On a Thursday in October, James asked Kim if she would like to join him for a movie and date night in downtown Austin. Kim was rushing to meet James after her hair appointment and almost missed the movie. With Kim being a huge Bradley Cooper fan, James knew that they had to see a Star is Born right away. After watching the movie, they strolled through downtown Austin hand in hand, under the stars. Once they had crossed the butterfly bridge (the one shown in our header photo), James turned around and blurted out, "Kim, I have a question" and got down on one knee. Kim being a bit of a control freak, was truly surprised, which rarely happens. It was a beautiful moment shared with the backdrop of the city they call home. Of course, she said yes!
