~ Before there was wedding planning, there was care planning. Our story starts as baby nursing students on our first clinical day of the new semester. Somehow, the outgoing, talkative Nicole got placed on the same hospital wing as the shy, quiet Matthew. Between taking care of patients, the two would make small talk and play tic-tac-toe in the nurses' station. This was the start of a semester of daily cafe hopping with their best friend Monica, late nights of care planning, and studying for exams. Little did they know that God had a plan for them, and they would be placed in the same exact classes for the next 4 semesters of nursing school. Study dates eventually turned into real dates, and Matthew eventually asked Nicole to be his girlfriend on Halloween day at a pumpkin patch. The two went on to graduate from nursing school and begin their first nursing jobs! To no one’s surprise, Nicole chose the loud and chaotic ER, while Matthew chose the quiet and controlled ICU. While the two may seem like opposites, similar to the couple themselves, they balance each other out in the best way possible. On October 4th, 2025, Matthew carried out the perfect proposal. Knowing that Nicole’s favorite movie is Tangled, he asked Nicole to marry him under tens of thousands of sky lanterns at the Rise Festival in Vegas. Looking back, we are so grateful to God for placing us together in the right place, at the right time. One day as clinical partners led to us becoming best friends, and partners for life.
