Everyone’s heard the saying, “You never forget your first love.” But what if your first love becomes your forever love? That’s what makes our story so special. We met in elementary school—same fifth-grade class—but it wasn’t until middle school, at thirteen, that our friendship began. A mutual friend pushed us to talk, and from that moment, everything changed. Becoming best friends felt effortless. We were inseparable—sharing secrets, dreams, and every awkward stage of growing up. People assumed we were dating long before we actually were, but we didn’t want to risk what we had. By the end of ninth grade, though, it was clear: we were falling for each other. One night, we made a pact—if dating didn’t work, we’d go back to being friends. Looking back, it was the best decision we ever made. Thirteen years later, after growing through life together, we’re standing here choosing each other again—this time, as husband and wife. Because, as it turns out, the other saying is true too: Marry your best friend.
