Our Love Story

Back in February of 2011 was when Zach and Becca first met. They were both on the high school swim team. He was a senior and she was a Junior. After that swim season, they wouldn't met again until June of 2012, when they both took part in a fundraising event in Lodi called, Relay for Life. At this point in time Zach had just gotten home from his military boot camp and was set to move to Germany in two weeks. As Becca had just graduated from High School, she was not looking for a relationship despite the connection they had. They spent the whole evening together and after that stayed connected via Facebook and occasional texts over the next year a half. In December of 2013, Zach traveled back home to surprise his family for Christmas and his sister's birthday. While he was home, they talked almost every day via text message until Zach eventually asked Becca out to the movies. The word "date" had never been said so they both walked into this movie unsure about how the other one was feeling. Zach took Becca home and they said their goodbyes. The next morning was Christmas Eve and Zach sent a sweet text that made all the difference and expressed exactly how he felt and Becca reciprocated the feelings. They texted each other all through the holidays and planned an actual "date" on the 26th of December, the day before he was set to fly back to Germany. They went out to lunch and then ended up spending the whole rest of the day together including meeting Zach's grandparents at their home, then his parents, sister, and best friends at his going away dinner. It was the best day and before Zach rushed off the the airport, they knew that despite the challenges of a long distance relationship, they wanted to give it a try. He asked her to be his girlfriend, and she said yes! They had their first kiss that night as re ran out the door. As all of Becca's friends would say, it was the most spontaneous decision shed had ever made, but boy was it the best decision!

Our Wedding Decision

On December 26, 2020, our 7 year anniversary, Zach topped every anniversary we have ever had by getting down on one knee and proposing! It was the most special moment that we will never forget! Despite everything going on in the world, we started making plans to have a big wedding to celebrate our love with everyone we care fore, but as the months went on, it seemed to be less and less of a possibility for us. We made the decision to enter into an Elopement Giveaway that was put together by some local venders. To preface, we have never won anything and didn't have high hopes, but figured it couldn't hurt to try. One day, while at work, I got a call saying we had been chosen to receive this amazing opportunity. I was shocked, Zach was shocked, it was such a whirlwind and tough decision to make, but in the end it just felt right for us and we couldn't pass it up! We said YES! We were soon married in a small intimate ceremony on top of a mountain surrounded by our immediate family members and our oldest childhood friends. We are so grateful for them and their willingness to hop on board with our crazy plan. We are saddened that we missed having the large wedding with all of our friends and family, one I had been planning up for years, but we know that our small wedding was ultimately the right choice for us as a couple and the money we were able to save will allow us to do all the things we want to do to build our future together.
