It was St. Patrick's Day and we consider it the luck of the Irish that our love story was waiting to begin just "Around the Corner" (the name of the bar we met at). As you likely know, the start of our relationship was unconventional and we had to shift our priorities. Throw in a cancer diagnosis, a bald head, a prolonged hospital stay and some major scares for our first year together; you could say we got the worst of it over with! This wedding is a monumental milestone and we owe it to all of you for your fervent prayers that carried us through this adversity. To bring it full circle, we want nothing more than to kick off our marriage with the family and friends who supported us along the way. Now if that isn't cause for celebration, we don't know what is!
Matt beautifully executed the proposal at Sapphire Creek Winery and Gardens. However, Lauren may have inadvertently spoiled that plan.. We were walking through the gardens with our family in tow and glass of wine in hand. Lauren jokingly made the comment to Matt that he shouldn't have worn white pants because they will get dirty when he gets down on one knee to propose. Matt nervously shrugged off that comment and not more than a few minutes later, he popped the question! Lauren's mom might have been more surprised than Lauren and the photographer Matt hired caught every special moment on camera. Fun fact: We got engaged on the anniversary of Matt's parent's wedding and we are getting married on the anniversary of Lauren's parent's wedding. The timing is too good to be true!
