Travel FAQs

Here are some advice for how to get around while you are here. The ticket inspectors are strict in zurich, so always carry your validated ticket (paper or QR in the app) and your passport.
Question

How do I get from Zurich Airport to the city centre?

Answer

- Buy a 24‑hour “3‑zone” ticket (14 CHF) at any blue ZVV/SBB ticket machine or in the SBB Mobile / ZVV app. - Take any train passing through Zürich HB (main station). Ticket also covers trams, buses and boats for the next 24 h. - Travelling light and planning museum visits? A Zürich Card (29 CHF/24 h) also covers the airport ride plus free museums and a lake cruise.

Question

What’s the easiest way to get around town while I’m there?

Answer

If you’re in Zurich for… | Buy… | Where to get it up to 24 h | 24‑hour ticket (city + airport = “3 zones”) | Machines, ZVV or SBB app 2–3 days | Another 24‑h ticket each day or a 72 h Zürich Card if you’ll sightsee a lot | Same as above 4–7 days | Keep chaining 24 h tickets. It’s still the cheapest. | As above 8+ days / planning day‑trips around Switzerland | Swiss Travel Pass (3, 4, 6, 8, 15 days) | Online at SBB.ch or SBB Mobile
