Getting to & Staying on Ocracoke

Ocracoke is an island that will require a ferry ride! We promise - it's worth it. Traveling to one of the ferries by car is logistically the easiest option, but the best options for flights are below too.

Travel Note

Ferries to the Island

There are three car and passenger ferries that head to Ocracoke: Cedar Island, Swan's Quarter and Hatteras. Cedar Island and Swan's Quarter require reservations, and take about two and a half hours to cross. The Hatteras ferry is the furthest to drive to, but requires no reservations and is an hour long. The drive down highway 12 is gorgeous too! The link below will take you to the NCDOT Ferry website where you can reserve your car or passenger ferry.
