From Akeem’s perspective: We first met on Instagram, just two people crossing paths not knowing God was already writing our story. Soon after, we started kicking it in the neighborhood, and I found myself really enjoying her company—her spirit, her smile, the way she carried herself. There was just something different about her, something real. I knew I wanted to be around her more, so I invited her to church, even during a hard time—my brother’s funeral. In the middle of grief, I saw her praise God, and in that moment, something clicked in my heart. I knew she was special… I knew she would be my wife. Life wasn’t easy. I went to jail, and during that time, I didn’t entertain or give my attention to any other woman. My heart was already with her. And she held me down with loyalty, strength, and love for two long years. That kind of love is rare, and I never took it for granted. When I came home, we picked up right where we left off. Our first date was at the skating rink, Spinners, laughing and enjoying each other like no time had passed. I even taught her how to skate, holding her hand, guiding her just like we’ve been doing through life ever since. A year later, God blessed us with our baby boy, Isaiah, and my heart grew even more. Then two years after that, our beautiful baby girl Ariel came into this world, completing a love that keeps growing stronger every day. Through every up and down, she’s been my partner, my peace, my answered prayer. I thank God for her, for us, and for the beautiful family we’ve built together with love at the center of it all.
