About UsAbout Us

How we met (by Obsa) Mercy and I first crossed paths in the fall of 2017, on a memorable Thanksgiving Day. Her family came to my uncle’s home for the holiday, as it was their custom at the time. We had an easy conversation about life and our hopes for the future, and I was moved by her strength and perseverance through life's challenges. Even though the night eventually came to an end, we exchanged social media and stayed in touch over the years. Over the years (by Mercy) We were blessed with mutual friends who helped keep us stay connected. One Thanksgiving night, some of our friends, along with Obsa and I carpooled to Best Buy for the big black Friday sale. I rode in Obsa’s tiny Nissan Versa and that's when I saw personality. The moment I got in the car, he said, “Better fasten your seatbelt… one good breeze and she'll take flight." He said it in Amharic which made it even funnier. Fast forward a few years, I invited him to my birthday dinner celebration with some friends. He brought a keychain as a gift :) but he was too shy to give it to me. Years later, when he told me about it, I thought it was the sweetest gesture. However, the keychain was nowhere to be found. To this day, we laugh about the missing keychain. There were also other fun adventures along the way... like the time we went horseback riding with friends. It sounded exciting and adventurous, until the next morning when the soreness kicked in! :) Although our life journeys weren't always smooth, we seemed to always find our way to each other; and we slowly grew closer over the years. In August 2024, we decided to give love a try. Though far from perfect, we have built a relationship founded on mutual respect, support, understanding, honest communication and most importantly, the unconditional Love of God. Even when long-distance tested us, we leaned on grace, trust, and countless late-night calls. During this season, our love, respect, understanding, and support for each other deepened. On March 30, 2025, Obsa asked me to be his wife, and I said yes. The proposal is a whole story of its own. I wouldn't know what to say and what to leave out. It was an experience I could have never dreamed of. Now, we’re preparing to say, “I do!” and we are so grateful for the privilege of celebrating this occasion with the people we love most. Our prayer is that our marriage would be one after God’s own design—a covenant of love, faithfulness, and unity—while pointing to the greater and unconditional love of Christ. TLDR: We met on Thanksgiving 2017, started dating in August 2024, and got engaged on March 30, 2025. We can’t wait to celebrate the start of our next chapter with you. With love, Mercy & Obsa
