I first laid eyes on Amber during the Fall 2019 semester. We had back-to-back Sociology classes together. I noticed her beauty the first day of class. She would always come to class dressed amazingly. As the weeks flew by, I became increasingly captivated by the grace, wisdom, and intelligence Amber showed in the classroom. Whenever Amber would answer a question or give an anecdote, she would have my undivided attention. I remember joking with my friends that I was going to wife her (funny how that worked out). I eagerly waited for a chance to speak to her. On 10/10/19, that chance finally came. I remember I was walking down the hall and noticed Amber walking towards my direction. As we passed by each other, she smiled at me. This was the chance I had been waiting for. I stopped to talk to her. Funny enough, our first conversation was about her father’s job as a principal. When I got home that evening, I sent her a DM on Instagram. From there, we never stopped talking.

When I first met Obasi we both were taking Sociology courses at Case Western Reserve University. We were in Health Disparities and a Gender class together. In class I noticed his intelligence, his positive energy, and I loved his locs! I also noticed him staring at me a couple of times, especially when I would move about the room or talk (I tease him about this often (; ). One day before class, he was walking towards me in the hallway and I smiled. He stopped to talk to me about my dad’s job and his interest in the field at the time. That day I went home and decided to end my social media cleanse and re-downloaded Instagram. To my surprise, I found that Obasi had sent me a DM that afternoon. We talked all weekend (and everyday since then) and it felt so comfortable and natural. He took me on a tour the following week around campus and the rest was history! On June 4, 2021 he asked me to marry him in Philadelphia, PA. I’m super excited to walk down the aisle and say “I Do” to my best friend!
