Uber is available throughout Portugal, but we recommend downloading BOLT as a more affordable alternative for getting around Europe.
You'll want to fly into Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS). Once you arrive, Uber and Bolt are the most convenient ways to get around and the airport is really close to the old city.
Don't worry, you'll find that most of the people in Portugal speak English and are super hospitable. Signs and menus are in English so, you shouldn't have any issues with communicating or getting around, but we do recommend learning at least how to greet and thank people in Portuguese.
November is typically Portugal's rainy season, and the weather could be slightly unpredictable, but expect temperatures ranging from 55–70°F (13–21°C). Definitely wear layers or bring a jacket in the evenings because it can get cooler at night.
Tipping in Portugal is minimal and always appreciated, but not expected. Generally, 7–10% is considered sufficient for good service.
