Michael and Elise were visiting each other while Elise was completing her last internship rotation in Durham, NC. The couple met for a quick weekend getaway in Charleston. The day started with Elise finishing up her work on Friday, while Michael went to scope out the proposal site, Pitt Street Bridge. After Elise was finally done working for the day, the couple grabbed a late lunch at Tavern and Table, one of their favorite spots in Shem’s Creek. Afterwards, Michael and Elise headed back, changed, and went to Rooted, a wine bar in Mount Pleasant for a predinner glass of wine. After the sun set, Michael was very insistent on talking a walk somewhere close by on the way to their dinner in downtown Charleston at Hank’s Seafood Restaurant. Michael and Elise walked down Pitt Street Bridge, looking at the silhouette of downtown Charleston, and watching the fish splash in and out of the water. While Elise was mesmerized with the view, Michael took the opportunity to pull out a ring and get down on one knee behind Elise, and asked her to marry him. The couple celebrated at Hank’s, the restaurant where Michael and Elise had their first official date.
