In a nutshell, Justin was my big secret crush in high school. There were only two people who knew, my mom and my cousin Amaya. For a long time I worked my hardest to keep it hidden but one day in class Jake found out. Jake is Justin's best friend, also one of my close friends that I had almost every class with senior year of high school. Jake really deserves an award for best wing man in history. Jake pulled some strings, got me to get over myself and stop being so shy. I refused for a long time but I gave in and let him set us up. From there, the rest is really history. We began entertaining the idea of us and realized that this just might be it. If you ask us now, time either moved really fast or it stopped. We aren't sure how it happened, however here we are... 6 years later and now we will get to share a last name!
Justin proposed on the weekend of our 5th anniversary. I honestly didn't expect a ring for another 5 years, so to say it was a surprise is putting it lightly. After eating dinner at the Flats Justin asked me if I wanted to hang out by the water for a bit before we went home. As we walked down to the pier, I am a habitual people watcher and I looked to my right and seen Justin's family all hiding to the side. I still did not realize what was going on so I asked Justin, "Uh, why is your family here?" Justin turned around to face them and then looked back at me, shrugged his shoulders and then got down on his knee! I must have blacked out for a moment because I forgot to say yes. Justin asked, "Are you gonna say yes?!" Then of course I said yes, then I realized that Mary You by Bruno Mars was playing and I turned around to my family all there to celebrate with us, with my brother playing the song on his boom box! Couldn't have been a more perfect moment!
