HOW WE MET

HER STORY: It was all Felecia! 😂 "How?" you ask. I was selected for an incredible year-long regional leadership program through the Delta Regional Authority. Out of participants from eight states, I had the incredible fortune of meeting Felecia, who quickly became a dear friend, soon-to-be sister, and fantastic colleague! In our lively conversations, Felecia often talked about her family, which always warmed our chats. While discussing life and relationships one day, she mentioned her baby brother again. Even though we both hail from a small town, I realized I didn’t know him since he graduated in a different class. I was intrigued, mainly because he lived in a city I had recently fallen in love with and was contemplating moving to. A few days later, I noticed we were already connected on Facebook when he reached out. Our conversations were like magic! We dove deep into discussions about everything—dreams, aspirations, and life journeys. Before we knew it, an exciting new chapter in our stories began, and I couldn't be more optimistic about where it may lead! 🌟 ----------------------------- HIS STORY: In a random conversation with my sister, she asked if I knew Nyaesia. I told her I didn't. She told me we were Facebook friends, so I looked her up while Fe and I were on the phone. Sure enough, we were friends. We're from a rural region, so when I see suggestions or requests from anyone in that region, I will usually connect with those referred. I reached out via messenger only to find out that we had gone to the same schools and had many of the same teachers and principals. She was in my cousin's class, so I didn't know her. We messaged each other, texted, talked, video-conferenced, and wrote handwritten letters. I went to a spot in Miami that sold old-school parchment paper and wrote her in long hand--several times. She did the same, though my penmanship is far better than hers! (It's not) She visited me in Miami a few months later. We continued to find shared interests and perspectives and a shared interest in travel, art (visual and performing), and adventure. We have always valued shared experiences over material gifts, which has been our relationship's core. We strive to share the experience and adventure of our lives. We've shared our favorite cities, restaurants, venues, and activities stateside. We've wanted our family to start in Paris officially- another experience and adventure we've discussed through the years. We've had our setbacks and victories on this journey to become one, and it's our time now. I can't wait to begin this chapter of our love story. Check out our first photo below.
