Meet us in Barcelona

Garret

&

Nuria

Barcelona, Spain

Why Spain?

Spain isn’t just a destination for Nuria and Garret — it’s the heart of what they value most. For Nuria, it’s the place where her family’s story began, shaped by Catalan traditions, shared meals, and summers spent with relatives in Barcelona. Those experiences instilled a deep appreciation for family, food, and gathering together. Though Garret grew up nearby in Northern California, his upbringing reflected the same spirit: large family meals, laughter, and the importance of showing up for one another. That sense of connection is what he immediately recognized in Nuria’s family and in Catalan culture itself. For both of them, family isn’t defined by geography, but by the act of coming together. Their shared love of Barcelona reflects who they are as a couple: curious, grounded, and drawn to places where history, creativity, and community intersect. The city’s balance of tradition and innovation mirrors the way they honor where they come from while building something new together. Bringing everyone to Spain for their one-year anniversary isn’t just about celebrating in a beautiful place. It’s about sharing a culture and a set of values that feel like home to them both and to all of you who are part of their story.

Is this a wedding?

Surprise! (Or maybe you already guessed.) We’re already married — so no, this isn’t a wedding. We actually tied the knot in a small ceremony in Vancouver, Washington, on September 8, 2025. We know how much it would have meant to celebrate that day with all of you, but we were just too eager to make it official. This trip to Spain isn’t a wedding — it’s something even better. It’s our way of bringing everyone together for a family reunion meets anniversary celebration meets vacation. We wanted to share not just our love, but also the place that shaped so much of who I am — and the culture, food, and family traditions that mean the world to us.
