It was July 29, 2022, a day we will never forget. We were preparing for the walk-through of my new home. That morning, the realtor called to ask if we could delay the appointment by a couple of hours because the seller needed time to get off work. Since I was off that day, I agreed without hesitation. When I arrived at the house, I was greeted by the seller, Dimitris, along with his mom and his son. As we went through the walk-through, he showed me around, explained the features of the house, and even helped transfer the details for the Ring camera system. I remember thinking to myself, Why is he being so nice? This is supposed to be an "as-is" sale. Dimitris then offered to introduce me to the neighbors and mentioned adding me to the neighborhood WhatsApp group. He even took the time to show me where my mailbox was located. On the way there, he casually said, “Maybe once you’re settled, we can all celebrate with your daughter.” I just smiled and said, “We’ll see.” After completing the walk-through and signing the paperwork, Dimitris reminded me to visit the association office to get my car decal. Later that night, around 11 p.m., I got a text from him asking if I was able to get the decal and reminding me to set up autopay for the HOA. He even offered to walk me through it if I needed help. As I settled into my new home, Dimitris continued to offer his help. One day, I was trying to turn on the outdoor lights, but the breaker wouldn’t work. I didn’t even know there was a second breaker box. I called Dimitris for advice. He immediately set up a three-way call with the power company to figure it out. Eventually, he called a neighbor to assist, and together they got the breaker working. That day, Dimitris brought dinner for my daughter and me because he knew we’d been working hard on cleaning and remodeling the house. We sat on the floor (there was no furniture yet) and shared a meal. A few weeks later, my family came down to help with the move. On our way back from IKEA, my car broke down on the turnpike. The battery had completely melted. No one I called was able to help, so I decided to call Dimitris, even though I knew he was at work. To my surprise, he told me to share my location and said he’d handle it. He left work, bought a new battery, and came to rescue me. My family couldn’t believe that the seller of the house would go out of his way like that. The following weekend, my aunt suggested inviting Dimitris over for dinner to thank him. During the meal, everyone sat at the table, but I was in the living room on the carpet. Dimitris joined me on the floor to eat. My uncle watched and quietly said, “That’s a good man.” Fast forward to today: that kind, selfless seller is now my husband. Reflecting on it all, I realize how God works in mysterious ways. I had looked at so many houses, but somehow, I ended up with this one a house I wasn’t initially crazy about. I truly believe it was meant to be. Dimitris is the sweetest, most kind-hearted, family-oriented, and respectful person I’ve ever met. I am so grateful to call him my husband, and I wouldn’t trade our story for anything in the world.
