Annie and Brian met on an online dating app called Bumble. On a work trip to Utah, Brian had a 40-minute layover in Chicago O’Hare airport. He opened up the app, swiped a *hard* right on Annie’s profile, not realizing that the app adjusted to his GPS location. After all, he had recognized that a photo on her profile was taken outside the Book Loft in German Village in Columbus! He too had a photo taken in Millenium Park in Chicago, leading Annie to believe they lived in the same city. It was a classic “location catfish” for the ages. Texting turned into video-chat, and because they didn't stop talking, Brian drove six hours to meet Annie in person. After six weeks of long-distance communication, they first laid eyes on one another at a farmer’s market in Lincoln Park, Chicago. They shared an embrace for the first time and then Brian offered Annie his arm to hold onto. Brian was so nervous that he still cannot remember the first ten minutes of their conversation! On their first date, they walked a total of 11 miles (unfortunately for Brian he was wearing dress shoes). Even though it would be months before I-Love-You’s were exchanged, by the end of their first weekend together, they each had a good sense that they had met the person they wanted to marry someday. The ensuing months were filled with visits between their cities, meeting one another's family and friends Having planned an elaborate proposal after 7 months of being together, Brian got down on one knee on the frigid shores of Lake Michigan and asked Annie to be his wife. PLOT TWIST When the world was shutdown by the pandemic, Annie and Brian made the difficult decision to change their wedding plans and were married on May 16th, 2020. While it was the best decision they could have made, they still can't wait to celebrate their marriage with all those who watched over live-stream but couldn't be there in person.
