I never thought I would meet my future husband on social media! It was January 3, 2024 in the dating section of Facebook - yes, FB has it’s own dating ‘app’. We had both been on and off “the apps” for years. Neither one of us remember how the conversation started but I do know Alex messaged me first after we matched. Fast forward 2 days later - it was my 30th birthday! I was at home getting ready to go out to dinner with my friend, Brittany, before playing putt-putt at Partee Shack in Garner. Alex and I were casually snap chatting back and forth. He was understandably cautious about sharing his phone number, so Snapchat it was. While curling my hair, I decided to go out on a limb and invite him knowing he was living well over an hour away. His response was “I’m tired”….really dude? LOL He finally told me he didn’t know if he could come because he was nervous to meet me. Of course we are all going to be nervous meeting someone that we are interested in - that’s normal. It took some convincing, but he showed that night how interested he was and how a man will put forth the effort if he truly wants to. Given how far away he was living at the time, there was no way he would make it to dinner in time; however, a couple hours later he met us a Partee Shack and boy was I nervous! I was starting to wish I could take back the invitation, but pulling in and seeing him in the parking lot, I knew that wasn’t an option. When he got out of the car, it was like seeing an old friend. The nerves subsided and, honestly, I was ready to show him up in a friendly game of putt-putt - turns out we are both very competitive! I may have won in putt-putt but he admittedly smoked me in air hockey. He couldn’t let me win at both games, so after I won the first round of air hockey it turned into the best 2 out of 3. It was getting late so we hugged and said our goodbyes - and the rest is history!
