It all started in Hampton Roads, Virginia. We were two goofballs wrecking havoc on a long weekend meet-up planned by our mutual friends. We met for the first time during this trip, orbiting around each other awkwardly. We were drawn to each other by a mutual love of laughter, silliness, and chaos.
After the trip ended, we found ourselves being drawn to one another by an even greater mutual love: a mutual love for Christ. Through the power of Christ, a friendship formed built on gospel safety. Strengthened by the knowledge of Christ's death in forgiveness of our sins, we felt free to be open and honest with each other. We saw each others flaws, and rather then condemn, we pressed each other towards the goal of becoming more like Christ. This intimate friendship built on goofiness and faith naturally progressed to dating, where our shortcomings continued to lay bare before one another. But through the power of Christ, we found the strength to love one another, exercising patience and forgiveness with empathy and understanding. Through it all we shared countless laughs, hiked beautiful trails, ate delicious food, enjoyed the company of friends, and supported each other through tough times. We never stopped being the odd-balls we met back in Hampton Roads.
As we look towards marriage, there's no greater excitement for us than to serve Christ together. We will continue to endure each other's sins, and be blessed by those sweet moments of reconciliation. We look forward to the mundane, knowing in it that Christ will be glorified through our steadfast love. We pray that we would continue to point each other to our savior Jesus Christ, that our marriage would grow our love for Him, and that we will be sanctified to His image through our love and service of each other.
