Vincent was a barback at a local steakhouse and I was a somewhat regular patron. Since I was clearly friends with the bartender, he told her that he thought I was beautiful and wanted to know a little about me. She promptly texted me and (unbeknownst to him) sent him to the place I was singing karaoke at. I spotted him standing there and walked up to him. We had quite the age difference- but hit it off immediately. We could quite literally talk for hours. But like we always say, "It's only weird if you think about it".
When we initially fell in love, forever wasn't really on the table. We knew our connection was incredible, but he was young and I was a single mom. The relationship just "didn't look good on paper". Nonetheless, we set out to enjoy whatever time we were going to have together and just let life happen organically. Before we knew it, we had grown into something so much bigger than ourselves. We had become a beautifully blended family. With the help of everyone who is a part of this blended family, we have raised (and are still raising) three incredible human beings. Our family and our goals for our family have become the cornerstone of our love.
After seven years I had decided that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Sheena and who better to ask for ring advice than our oldest daughter Shea. Shea and I searched high and low for Sheena's perfect ring. After all hope seamed lost we finally found that perfect black diamond that fit our Adams Family life style. Easy peasy right? Now all I had to do was ask her military father for his daughters hand in marriage, have that talk with the kids, find the perfect time to propose while keeping the most exciting moment of my life a secret. More or less everything went according to plan. I had all of our kids over for Christmas eve and charismas morning. Sheena was in her most comfiest attire. We had presents and smiles being shared all over the house. It was the perfect setting. After the living room was destroyed by toys and paper wrapping I told Sheena I had one more present for her. I got down on one knee and asked if she would marry me. My mind had a billion scenarios racing through it and the first word out of her mouth as she turned around...was no. My heart dropped, My stomach did a complete 180. My confused/terrified face must have been a clue to her because she immediately said yes right after. Okay, so...in my defense- I exclaimed, "Noooooooooo!!!!" when Vincent proposed because I was in utter and total shock. I buried my face in my hands and started sobbing because I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him regardless of marital status. I also think part of me realized at that moment how badly I had botched his quarantine haircut the day before. Either way, I eventually gathered myself and said a very teary, enthusiastic "YES!!!!" I was absolutely floored at the time, love, and effort that was put into this proposal by everyone involved- including our children. It was everything I could have ever wanted in a proposal and more.
What can we say? Life has definitely been busy since we decided to tie the knot. I ended up completely changing careers and managing a family owned motorcycle shop (ChrisMoto) with my uncle and aunt. It was a big change, but ultimately worth it. I enjoy learning everything that I can in this new trade every day. Vincent has been working hard as usual, bartending at The Siren Morro Bay, doing construction whenever he is needed, and started coaching waterpolo. Vincent and I both played waterpolo growing up, so him coaching just made so much sense. He has coached for both Morro Bay High School and a local youth waterpolo club-in addition to playing in an adult division tournament himself recently. In our off-time, we love doing anything we can outdoors. We love hiking, kayaking, and enjoying nature. I also have a passion for cooking and Vincent has a passion for eating my creations. It's been a blast so far and we cannot wait to see what else is around the corner.
