Maid of Honor
What started off as a casual hello while walking through their sophomore dorm (Slowe Hall) has turned into a lifelong sisterhood. Colleen (Coco) and Afiya attended Howard together, lived in NYC together, went to Carnivals together, navigated the ups and downs of life together, and most notably, went to work straight from the club (we would not recommend, zero stars) after visiting the 24-hour Forever 21 in times square to get work clothes. No matter what, Afiya can always count on Colleen to be there for her. Colleen's favorite question is "do you want to figure out a solution/my advice or do you just want to vent?" Colleen is always honest (even when it hurts) and that is the mark of a true best friend.

Afiya's first friend at Howard! Deria was also a transfer, and Afiya wasted no time befriending her. This was just the beginning of their similarities though. From their Caribbean backgrounds, love of music and the club, hatred of mean girls, and SO SO much more, Deria and Afiya became fast friends. The friendship continued to NYC where the two were roommates for several years---If those walls could talk! They spent many a night talking about love, life, and dreaming about what the future would hold. Afiya was so happy to stand by Deria's side when she got married and be one of the first people to meet her beautiful son. We didn't do too bad did we?

Chelsea and Afiya met on Facebook the summer before their Freshman year at Franklin & Marshall College. Afiya noticed that they wore the same dress to prom but in different colors. This perfectly describes the pair. Night one of college the two spent the evening together laughing and dancing on top of the frat bar (two peas in a pod). When the music wasn't to their liking they often went back to Afiya's room and had dance parties while listening to Justin Timberlake, Citizen Cope, and Sublime. Despite being miles apart for the majority of their friendship, the bond the two share can't be defined by time or space.

Alyssa and Afiya met their freshman year at Franklin & Marshall college. Alyssa was the final puzzle piece to complete the crew. Afiya had just gotten her tongue pierced and instead of resting she teamed up with Alyssa to open a wine bottle without a corkscrew (the two have always been very classy). The two have been best friends ever since. Freshman year they traveled to Miami for Spring Break and narrowly escaped an encounter that would definitely have made its way onto the Crime Junkie Podcast. Since then they've visited each others families, traveled to see each other while at separate colleges, and stayed close despite the distance. Alyssa celebrated with Afiya and Stephen the night they got engaged and had a blast!

Afiya and Anna met in Atlanta while attending Emory where they both received their MBAs. Their favorite past time is by far dying of laughter anytime they are together. Whether they are tipsy shopping at target, attending a music festival, or trying to figure out how to market a random baby product during a case competition, the two will always be found laughing. Anna and Afiya have attended two carnivals together and Afiya could not have asked for a better carnival buddy. Anna knew just how to wake and pump Afiya up for countless early morning fetes (if you know Afiya you know this is no easy task). Anna is a true ride or die. She embraced Afiya's culture and family and is welcomed to stay with Aunty Nancy anytime.
Groomsman
The other half of the 3-6 Mafia! Man, if the streets of Miami could talk... What started with Jose holding me down with free food when he worked at End Zone (!!) grew into a full-blown brotherhood. Jose and I are line brothers, former Miami roommates, and a universally troublesome combination when we're in the same place at the same time.
Groomsman
Man where to start. On day 1 of college, at the very first college party we had at University of North Carolina, LA (Lawrence) and I immediately linked up and have been down ever since. From sleeping on my floor freshman year, to pledging Phi Beta Sigma to living together at The Verge. We have seen each other through multiple big moments in life and I couldn't be happier to have you front-and-center for this one!
Groomsman
We go back like a Cadillac on 4 flats! From middle school to the Frat to The Last Dance, Carrington has been rolling with me since Day 1. We go back so far, I have absolutely no memory of the origin story but here we are fully grown and making our mark as men. Glad you have my back on this important day.
Groomsman
Afiya's younger brother, my soon-to-be brother-in-law, Mason's video game partner, and all-around good dude! Akeda is certainly the groomsman I have known the shortest amount of time, but I knew he was solid within minutes. I couldn't be happier to be welcoming you into my family and I look forward to all of the great things to come!
