How We Met

We met in November 2017 when we both decided to swipe right on the infamous dating app, Tinder...as if that doesn't need any more romance added to it, the first thing Andrew said to start our conversation was, "How do you know Ryan Rieb?" Not impressed by his first words to me, I responded with little interest of where this would lead. At that time, Tinder allowed you to connect the app to your Facebook which then would show you and your match if you had mutual friends. Andrew's curiosity to this mutual friend resulted in me sharing that this friend I knew through my ex, therefore the first five minutes of our conversation had me discussing my ex already. We somehow managed to continue to talk after that only to find that we both grew up in Emmett, ID and that our families still lived there. Through this conversation I found out that Andrew had a class in high school with my older brother and they even worked at Arctic Circle together. If that wasn't weird enough, I had invited Andrew to my birthday party a few weeks after we started talking and my best friend, Megan, runs up to me and says, "THAT'S YOUR ANDREW?!" Megan shared that they were childhood neighbors for a few years and their families knew each other. Growing up in the same town allowed us to share our similar experiences with one another and felt it gave us a strong connection from the get go. After a couple years of dating, we realized we wanted to commit to one another so we bought our first house in October 2019 in Nampa, ID. This was home for us and our cat, Noodle, until April 2023 when Andrew earned a job promotion that resulted in us relocating to Camas, WA. Andrew left Idaho in April of 2023 and I stayed behind tying up loose ends before I would join him in July that year. He was set to come help me move July 14, 2023 and we decided to throw a going away bbq with our friends that evening. To my surprise, Andrew had been planning the proposal for months with my family and friends. Though I accidentally ruined the surprise a little by being the good host that I am. The plan was that I was supposed to be out of the house and on the patio then my family was supposed to sneak through the house to be there for the engagement but I ended up helping some friends put their bags in the spare bedroom for safekeeping right when the front door opened and in comes my family. Them showing up to our house out of the blue made me realize what was happening. I was not expecting the engagement up until that point so I still consider it to be a surprise! Getting to celebrate the engagement with some of our closest friends and family is a memory we will always cherish. Now we're looking forward to celebrating with you all for our wedding!
