Andy is an Oregon native, born and raised in Portland. In 2013, he moved to Okinawa, Japan where he’s lived for the past 11 years. In 2017, on a flight from Portland to Tokyo a girl named Noriko sat next to him. In what might be one of the longest first dates in the world, Andy and Noriko got to know each other over the next 10 hours. After getting back to Tokyo they kept in touch, traveling back and forth between Okinawa and Tokyo. After a year of dating, Noriko agreed to move to Okinawa so she and Andy could move in together. Six years later, in February 2023, Andy proposed to Noriko.
