The Engagement

Fit for a Princess.

This is Rachell, and I want to tell you about how special my engagement was. My entire life has been lived for other people, if you know me and my story, you know how true this is. To imagine someone thinking of everything they could do to make me feel special always seemed like a huge reach for me in my life. Until I met Cameron. I have never met a man who is so dedicated to my happiness. A man who would literally do anything to put a smile on my face. Getting engaged was something we always had an open conversation about, we are people who want to be realistic and plan for our future, but I couldn't have imagined it would play out the way it did. In all of its cheesy, cliche, perfect Disneyland glory. Cameron knew how important Disneyland was to me, for a lot of reasons, but mainly because it was the one place I was able to be with both of my parents when they were happy, healthy, in love and together. The last birthday I had before my father's passing was in Disneyland. My parents dressed me in princess gowns from the Bibbidi Boppidi Boutque (I was Belle, to be exact,) took me to the fancy restaurant inside The Pirates of The Caribbean ride, The Blue Bayou. It is one of my fondest memories, one that I would discuss with Cameron often. Saying things like "I can't wait to take you to Disneyland one day, I want to show you my dad's favorite ride!" "One day, we will be lucky enough to get into the Blue Bayou for dinner, it's so cool there." "I know Disney people kind of freak us out, but Disneyland is truly one of the happiest places, ever. We have to go together, babe." Well, last year we finally started planning our Disney trip together. Not only us, but some of our closest and dearest friends (all of which are now our wedding party!) I had a feeling that our trip was going to be special, but I didn't expect how special. Not only did Cameron propose to me in front of the Disney castle with all of our friends there, we were able to eat at that very special restaurant together. I was able to point out all of the fond memories I shared with my mom and my dad with him. I was able to experience love on so many levels with him in that moment. And I have never seen him so happy <3 After I said yes, he screamed "EVERYONE! I AM ENGAGED! SHE SAID YES!" he turned around and pumped his arms in the air, with the biggest grin on his face that I have ever seen. I couldn't help but collapse onto him and we ended up on the ground, just embracing each other in that moment. To have someone go to all of these lengths to surprise me, to make me happy, to give me an engagement that I deserve means everything and more to me. And I really can't wait to spend forever with him <3
