FAQs

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Yes! We will provide entertainment for kids during the reception.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

The wedding ceremony and reception is formal (black-tie optional). The Old Town where the ceremony is located has cobblestones and the Ancient Theater has many stairs - we highly recommend wearing or bringing a pair of comfortable flat shoes! It can also get cold in the evenings so please dress accordingly as both the ceremony and reception are outdoors, and the reception is in a tent.

Question

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The wedding ceremony is outdoors, and the wedding reception is outdoors in a tent (there will be heating if necessary). Evenings in early May can be cold, so please prepare accordingly.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

In early May, Plovdiv, Bulgaria is generally mild, with average daily temperatures ranging from 55°F to 80°F. It's a good idea to bring a light jacket for evenings.

Question

What is the local currency?

Answer

The local currency is the Bulgarian Lev (1 Lev is about .56 USD). Credit cards are accepted at many locations but we encourage withdrawing cash for small purchases.

Question

What should I eat while in Bulgaria?

Answer

Nora's favorite is the pink tomato salads that Plovdiv is known for, and Juan loves Lyutenitza (a red pepper spread). Be sure to try Kebapche, Kyufte, and Shopska Salata!

Question

Can I drink the tap water?

Answer

Tap water is safe to drink all over the country but not always pleasant in taste. There are drinking fountains all over the streets of Plovdiv with clean spring water.

Question

Which days should I be in Plovdiv?

Answer

We recommend arriving in Plovdiv by the evening of May 1 so you can partake in all activities on May 2nd and May 3rd. Please note May 1 is a national holiday in Bulgaria and some services may be closed.

Question

What is the tipping culture in Bulgaria?

Answer

Tipping is standard practice in Bulgaria and travelers should aim to tip around 10% of the total bill in a restaurant or taxi.

For all the days along the way
