If you will be attending the Nuptial Mass at St. Benedict’s parish we do request some basic rules. The men should be dressed smartly for the occasion, dress shirts, dress shoes, ties, sports coats, etc. Women should dress modestly with their shoulders covered (shouldn’t be too painful for you in February!) and if you choose to wear a dress it should come down to your knees.
We have reserved a block of hotel rooms at the Comfort Suites Newport News Airport. It is conveniently located near the highway and airport and is no more than 20 minutes from the reception venue.
To ensure that we can invite all of the people in our lives that matter most to us we do have to restrict our reception from plus ones (unless they were specifically mentioned in your invitation).
Don’t panic! In your pew at the church there will be books that will allow you to follow along. Even if you get totally lost many of the other guests at the wedding are familiar with the Latin Mass. Stand when they stand, sit when they sit. No one will ever know. For more info: http://www.stbenedictsparish.org/about/beginners/
If you are a Catholic in good standing with the Church you may absolutely receive the Eucharist on your tongue while kneeling at the altar rail. If you are not Catholic or are not in good standing with the Church you may not receive Holy Communion. Please remember that this is an incredibly important part of our faith and be respectful.
If you are having trouble RSVPing try putting the first and last name of the first person on the invitation envelope. If you still can’t RSVP, please call or text Nora Rowett at 757-375-7423.
