Dan and Emily met at the University of Chicago, where Emily was getting her Master's degree and Dan was preparing to start his PhD. Emily's first thought when she met Dan was, "Wow, he's tall." Dan's first thought was "Why is this girl not wearing a jacket in the dead of winter?" The rest is history.

In 2017, Emily and Dan were watching the sunset over the Boston skyline when Dan asked Emily to move to Boston to build a life with him. She said yes and their life together began. Five years later, Dan got down on one knee at Peter's Hill in the Arnold Arboretum with the skyline in the distance and their dog, Sadie, by their side and he asked Emily to marry him. She said yes and they committed to continuing to build and grow together.
