Jack and Jacque met on September 25th, 2016 through their matchmaker, Tyler Vry (Bride's Brother). It was Jack and Tyler's senior year of high school and they joined Jacque's homecoming group. The night started with group pictures and then we parted ways at the dance. Jacque decided to perk up her brother by trying to encourage her brother to dance with her and to have fun at his last high school homecoming. In a failed attempt to cheer up her brother, she turned to Jack and asked him if he dances. Without waiting for an answer, she pulled him onto the floor for a short dance. Little did Jack & Jacque know what this one dance may lead to... Weeks go by without much communication between the two of them. Then on October 1st, 2016, Jacque woke up to a notification on both Groupme & Imessage texts from Jack, who had gotten her number through their matchmaker. A new friendship began to bloom. After a month of getting to know each other and hanging out in group settings, Jack decided to ask Jacque the important question that started it all. On November 11th, 2016, Jack asked Jacque to be his girlfriend by holding up a sign in her parents driveway that said " I know you are a creative person. Now help me create our relationship together?". Neither Jack nor Jacque could have imagined what that relationship would grow to be. Jack and Jacque remained a couple and grew closer together throughout the remainder of Jacque's high school education, Jack's college graduation, Jacque's college graduation, and as they both entered the workforce. Jack and Jacque continued to date for 5.5 years before they decided to take their relationship to the next level. Jack proposed to Jacque on May 9th, 2022. Jack and Jacque had been talking about their future together and were ready to start making plans. They had gone ring shopping together to better understand each other's style. Although Jacque was persistent in trying to figure out Jack's proposal plan, Jack surprised her with the proposal. Jacque does not like surprises, but Jack managed to save this surprise for Monday night of Jacque's finals week at ISU. On that night, Jack and Jacque went to dinner at The Boulder Tap House in Ames, IA. After dinner, Jack and Jacque decided to go on a night walk and take a lap around the Ames Bandshell nearby. When Jack and Jacque got out of the car, mother nature had some plans of her own. It had began sprinkling as they were walking around the bandshell. Jack pulled Jacque over to the side by the statue and began talking about how much he loves her. Jacque remembers as he was getting down on one knee being in awestruck. As he was getting on his knee Jacque remembers looking up towards the night sky as it began to downpour rain. When jack asked the question 'Will you marry me?" Jacque of course said yes. Jack and Jacque quickly ran for shelter in Jack's truck to share the news with family and friends. As Jacque was talking to her parents on the phone to tell them the celebratory news, Jack and Jacque look outside and notice all of the rain had stopped. Their special moment felt like a scene from a romantic comedy. Jack and Jacque continue to grow their love and their relationship. They look forward to celebrating their special day with each and everyone of their loved ones!
