We both like to support local businesses, so it only makes sense that we met at "Starbucks," a little hole in the wall, mom and pop coffee shop. First date: Our first date was decided over a bet - if Penn State won their football game, Kate would buy Jim a beer. If Penn State lost, Jim would owe Kate a beer. Sure enough, Penn State won so that meant Kate had to pay up. We spent that evening in Center Valley enjoying a meal and some well deserved brewskies.

We had made plans with our friends, Rachel and Andy to get together Friday after work. Jim suggested we should go to Hershey Park for their lights in the park display since we had never been before. Jill, Jim's sister, is a talented photographer and made the trip up to capture the display. Little did Kate know that Jill was really there to capture the special moment. : ) After walking around the park and riding some of the rides, Jim suggested we get a picture in front of a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. Jim then held Kate's hands and started to tell her how special she was to him. Before she knew it, Jim was down on one knee with a ring in his hand! Kate was shaking with happiness and excitement - of course she said yes! It was such a special evening and even more memorable to have Jill and our friends be there for our engagement. When we got home, Jill had surprised us with a bottle of champagne and an ice cream cake. What a special evening!
