Flight
The closest major airports are Nuremberg (NUE), Frankfurt (FRA), and Munich (MUC). Nuremberg – about 1.5 hours by train or car. Frankfurt & Munich – both around 2.5–3 hours by train or car. The easiest (and most scenic) way to reach Lichtenfels from the airport (or other German city) is by Deutsche Bahn train. From any of these airports, you can catch a train with just one or two connections. Tickets can be booked online in advance or at the station. If you prefer to drive, all airports have rental car desks, and the drive is straightforward with well-marked highways. We’ll share shuttle details for certain events, but during your stay, you can also get around by regional trains, taxis, or simply on foot—Lichtenfels is very walkable.
