We met while Kaitlyn was living in Troy completing her clinical rotation at the VA hospital. Although she hated the hospital, she is thankful it brought Nolan into her life. Nolan had just graduated from Clarkson University and was just beginning his career as a mechanical engineer.

On Oakley's first birthday, Nolan wanted to celebrate his new job so he convinced Kaitlyn to go to their favorite restaurant, Bellini's. While Kaitlyn took the dogs outside Nolan cued up their favorite song and got down on one knee.
