We first met while both working at a restaurant called Sushi Zen. After a few months of working together, Nola let it slip to one of her co-workers that she had a tiny crush on Chris, and within a few days we had our first date!
Our first date was May 19, 2018. We went to dinner and a concert (The Used) at Royal Oak Music Theater, all planned by Chris. Nola did not know the band very well at the time, but made sure to learn a few songs to sing along. Nola also did not know the craziness that would ensue in the first few rows once the music began, but it really helped us laugh and break the ice.
Chris and Nola both love to travel together and see new places. The first trip we took together was a long weekend spent at the beach in Grand Haven, in June, 2018. We had so much fun and truly fell for each other on this mini vacation. This began our love for visiting Lake Michigan, which we always make sure to do at least once a year. Before the year ended, Nola and Chris also visited Sawyer, Michigan, New York City, and San Diego, California.
Nola and Chris moved into their first apartment together in Detroit in 2019. There were so many fun things to do in Detroit, and the apartment had a spectacular view of the city. Nola goes to Wayne State and Chris enjoyed the city, so it was a great spot to be!
In 2021, Nola brought home Ginger, an adorable and lovable corgi puppy that quickly stole our hearts. Ginger has become our best friend and she truly lights up our days.
For a belated valentine's day celebration, Chris planned a weekend at a cozy cabin in Saugatuck, Michigan. We were able to bring Ginger along, which we had been hoping to do for a while on one of our weekend trips. Chris suggested we go see the snowy beach and Lake Michigan to take some cool photos. Chris set the camera up for a photo of us and Ginger and got down on one knee and proposed! The photo was captured perfectly. We visit Lake Michigan every year, so it was the perfect setting for the proposal!
