For those of you who don’t already know, In July of 2015, we traveled to Cañadas de Obregón Jalisco, Mexico. It was supposed to be an ordinary family vacation, visit relatives, eat endless amount of tacos, day naps, ranch days and celebrate the yearly fiestas downtown. With only 4 days left of my trip, Chris arrived. It was a Friday night when the cousins, all dolled up, would go downtown for drinks and walk around the famous jardín. It was then that I walked past Chris, who with a little help from his cousin, reached for my arm. As I turned to look over at him I couldn’t help but smile as he gave me a single red rose. His smile was captivating, dreaming, I smiled and greeted him in English. If only you could have seen his face as he replied "thank God you speak English." He sighed in relief and asked if I would take a walk with him. Since that night, we never lost touch. I reminisce on this memory often, as it is then, the moment I knew I had fallen for a man I had just met. Love at first sight, to me, was fiction, a dream, something you only see in movies, little did I expect to be living it. Our engagement was no different. A carefully thought out surprise and intimate moment alongside with our boys as we walked into my mother in laws “early birthday celebration.” Little did I know I would be walking into our own celebratory dinner where our family awaited our arrival. Chris always says “fate was on our side as destiny brought us together”, over 2,000 miles away from home. We met by coincidence, in our families small home town, where our grandparents were lifelong friends and relatives where childhood acquaintances. If that’s not something special, I don’t know what is. Our story is our favorite and we can’t wait to celebrate this next best chapter with you all. Cheers to new beginnings!
