7:00 pm
Party attire. For gentlemen: a button down shirt with or without a tie and slacks. For ladies: tea-length or midi dresses or pantsuits. A light jacket or wrap are recommended.
Please join us for light bites and cocktails. Below is a short history of The Gold Room written by Ray Brimble. As you pass through the white arched entrance of the El Paseo complex, you are entering one of Santa Barbara's most iconic and historic places - The Casa de la Guerra, built in 1818 by Native American labor for the Spanish comandante of the Presidio of Santa Barbara, Jose de la Guerra. You may be tempted to envision Zorro, or perhaps the Three Amigos. Aesthetically, you would be correct as those fictitious movie characters were loosely based on the look and sensibilities of this place, in that time. The hallway to the west of the courtyard was formerly a secret tunnel which allowed de la Guerra to escape when his enemies were trying to break in through the front door. Please take comfort in knowing that you too have a secret escape path, should your partying get out of hand and the other guests come for you. Enjoy, and then run. That’s what de la Guerra would do.
3:15 pm - 10:00 pm
This event is black tie optional. For gentlemen: a tuxedo or dark suit and tie. For ladies: long dresses or pantsuits. The ceremony will be outdoors, so a light jacket or wrap and shoes that can walk on grass are recommended.
We will have buses to take guests to and from the wedding venue on Saturday, as parking is limited. The buses will arrive at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown at 2:20pm, and at the Santa Barbara Inn at 2:45pm. The buses will return to these locations after the reception. Ubers or Lyfts are also widely available.
