Bring whatever you need to have fun for the weekend. Saturday is the only day you will need to dress accordingly. Stanley has lots of activities for the outdoor enthusiast in mind, please see the Things To Do page for ideas.
During this time of year the weather is typically hot in the day time, up to 90+ degrees. Nights can cool down to the 40s so bring a jacket. Stanley is a wild, high desert environment so weather can change at a moment's notice but is usually very pleasant in July.
Stanley is a small mountain town with one gas station and two small grocery stops. The year-round population has increased from 63 to just over 200 in the past decade, but the town remains quaint and embraces the western frontier town vibe. There are 5-10 different restaurants nearby that serve breakfast and dinner, but plan on extra time or making reservations as the town is still growing to support the recent influx of summer vacationers.
There are a handful of hotels, bed and breakfasts, and Airbnbs around Upper and Lower Stanley. We strongly recommend booking early as the summer months tend to be very busy for this small town. Additionally, there is camping available around Red Fish Lake and all over the Sawtooth Wilderness. Camping in most established locations require reservations and the good spots fill up fast!
