Below are our recommendations for what to look for when buying Indian clothing, as well as a few sites / stores in the Bay and LA where you can purchase clothing. Women -Lehenga Choli: Comprised of a skirt (lehenga), blouse (choli), and dupatta (scarf). -Salwar Kameez is a more comfortable option, featuring a tunic (kameez), trousers (salwar), and a dupatta (scarf) -Sari: This is a traditional garment consisting of a long piece of fabric elegantly draped around the body over a blouse and petticoat. This will be the most difficult to wear as it requires draping. Men -Kurta-Pajama set: (Most common) Simple but elegant clothing consisting of a long shirt and pants. -Sherwani: (More formal) A long, coat-like garment that is often embroidered and worn over a kurta (a tunic) with a pair of churidars or pajama (fitted trousers). For our Black Tie Optional celebration, we encourage: - A tux or formal suit - A gown or elegant dress As we are celebrating in November, we invite those wearing dresses to embrace Fall colors, textures, and patterns.
Uber in Mexico City has always worked great for us - it is readily available and generally much lower cost than in the US. We recommend planning on using Uber to get to all wedding events. Renting a car or arranging a taxi transport from the airport are also options.
Here are our travel tips from our past visits to CDMX: Water: Do NOT drink any unfiltered water from the tap, shower, or any other sources. When eating at restaurants always ensure that both the water and ice is filtered. We'd hate for anyone to get sick on this trip. Elevation: Mexico City sits at an elevation of almost 7500 ft. and if you are easily affected by elevation it can take a few days to adjust. Electronics: When traveling into Mexico, each traveler is only allowed to bring ONE laptop or tablet - otherwise you may get fined an "import tax". Traffic: Like any major city, there can be traffic getting around. We have concentrated all wedding events in the Roma & Juarez neighborhoods to avoid any long car rides, but we recommend buffering your timing as traffic can increase time estimates.
You do not need a visa if you are traveling from the US. If you are traveling from outside the US, you may need one.
We spent way more time on this guide than actually planning - so please check out "Our Guide to Mexico City" in the website navigation tab!
In November, the climate of Mexico City is generally mild and dry, marking the beginning of the dry season. Average daytime temperatures typically range from around 68°F to 75°F, while nighttime temperatures can drop to between 45°F to 52°F. Bring a jacket!
Transportation will not be provided to and from events BUT we promise using uber in CDMX is easy, cheap, and more convenient than trying to catch a shuttle. All the venues are within a 15 minute drive from the Condesa and Roma neighborhoods, but please pad your timing to accommodate the city traffic.
We have a block at the Andaz Mexico City! Check the Travel & Hotel section of our site to book with our discount code.
Sadly, due to venue restraints, we only have capacity for the people named on the invite.
