Nos vamos a casar!

We go way back — all the way to high school. We met at 15 through the same friend group, but it wasn’t until end of junior year (hello, online school during COVID) that we really started talking. At the time, Kevin was replacing school with working, so because of that almost every day he’d text Noelia for answers, and she’d send them over with no problem. (Kevin even tried paying her, but she was all like “nah bro, we’re all struggling out here.”) To be fair, every once in a while she’d borrow some answers from him, too. After months of that routine, Kevin admitted he was thinking of fully dropping out, but Noelia convinced him to push through the last year. Once we went back in person, we started meeting up after school — sometimes at the library, sometimes at the park — to study and keep each other motivated. Before we knew it, we’d gone from study buddies to literally best friends, lol The first time we hung out outside of “school mode” was for Noelia’s birthday, when Kevin took her to Dave & Buster’s and even showed up with a thoughtful gift. We kept talking every single day, and when prom rolled around, Kevin was not into that but, Noelia convinced him and casually asked, “Wanna go with me?” Kevin said “Let’s do it.” Prom itself was a bust, but Kevin suggested that he take Noelia to her first car meet instead. A little while later, on Kevin’s birthday weekend, we were texting while Noelia was out with friends. Kevin stayed up just to make sure she got home safe — and when it turned out she needed a ride, he pulled through. On that drive, Noelia confessed her feelings, and Kevin finally admitted he felt the same way. It was crazy how it all turned out. Three months later, on August 23rd, 2021 Kevin officially asked Noelia to be his girlfriend. And the rest… well, you’re reading about it now. Nuestra historia se remonta a la secundaria. Nos conocimos a los 15 años porque éramos parte del mismo grupo de amigos, pero no fue hasta finales de junior year (hola, clases en línea por el COVID) que realmente empezamos a hablar. Después de meses de esa rutina, Kevin confesó que estaba pensando seriamente en dejar la escuela, pero Noelia lo convenció de aguantar el último año. Cuando volvimos a las clases presenciales, empezamos a juntarnos después de la escuela — a veces en la biblioteca, a veces en el parque — para estudiar y motivarnos mutuamente. Sin darnos cuenta, pasamos de ser compañeros de estudio a literalmente mejores amigos, lol. La primera vez que salimos fuera del “modo escuela” fue para el cumpleaños de Noelia, cuando Kevin la invitó a Dave & Buster’s y hasta le llevó un detallito. Seguimos hablando todos los días, y cuando se acercó el prom, Kevin no estaba nada emocionado, pero Noelia lo convenció y le preguntó casualmente: “¿Quieres ir conmigo?” Kevin respondió: “Va, hagámoslo.” El prom estuvo medio aburrido, pero Kevin la sorprendió llevándola a su primer car meet para cerrar la noche. Un tiempito después, en el fin de semana del cumpleaños de Kevin, estuvimos texteando mientras Noelia estaba en una fiesta con sus amigas. Kevin se quedó despierto para asegurarse de que llegara bien a casa — y cuando resultó que necesitaba un ride, él fue por ella. En ese camino, Noelia le confesó lo que sentía, y Kevin finalmente admitió que él también sentía lo mismo. Fue una locura cómo se dieron las cosas.
