Honestly, Jarrett and I have an interesting story! We actually met each other through an ex of mine. *gasp!* In September of 2010, my ex introduced me to Jarrett by taking me over to his house to spend some time. I really liked Jarrett and thought he was a great guy! We became friends and all of us would go out to dinner occasionally or to an Indiana Wind Symphony concert. I would also dog-sit Dolly for Jarrett when he would go out of town for conventions or just with his mom. Honestly, I fell in love with Dolly and gradually began to see the type of person Jarrett was and is. As funny as it sounds, Jarrett was constantly asking me about single ladies that I may know, and it was extremely difficult for me to find one that matched the description or that I felt was worthy of such a gentleman with his qualities. As he described the type of woman he was looking for, I realized that I honestly matched the descriptions, but kept quiet about it. Then, in 2016, I had an epiphany / awakening which led to me breaking things off with my ex (finally!). Jarrett continued to provide care through friendship and eventually our friendship blossomed into much, much more. We couldn't be more excited to be together and honestly feel like past relationships were just stepping stones to get to each other, provided by God. We thank God for his blessings each and every day and wouldn't have it any other way.
Jarrett never fails to amaze me. I was at Mikala & James's house, having a sibling get-together with Chelsie, Derek, Mikala, and James. Jarrett had stayed home to work on things for his Masonic Lodge. I texted him at around 9:00 to see if he was finished and if he would like to come over. He said, "Sure I would! Is everyone still there?" I replied with, "Everyone is still here, but I think Derek is about to leave." On Jarrett's end, Andrew's Jewelers had called him at around 8:20 to let him know the ring came in a day early and was available for pick-up if he would like to come get it. So, with 15 minutes to spare before store closing, he went to Andrew's Jewelers and picked up the ring. He called Grandma and asked her if she thought it would be a good time to propose to me. Grandma was just elated and couldn't be more thrilled that he was going to pop the question that night and in front of all of my siblings! She loved the idea. So, Jarrett picked up the ring, I'm sure he was planning on texting me, but I ended up texting him first, he headed on over to Mikala's house, and then came in with the ring on his pinky finger, unbeknownst to anyone but himself. He gave hugs, shook hands, and sat with us to socialize. By that time, Derek had already left and Chelsie was getting ready to leave. Jarrett got up, I thought to give Chelsie a hug goodbye, but instead said, "Before you go, I would like to ask a question." He got on one knee and asked if I would marry him. I was completely shocked... For the first time in my life, I was lost for words and looked at my sisters like, "WHAT JUST HAPPENED!?!?!" With that, I answered, "Absolutely, I will!!!" Then Mikala got out some cheap wine and we had a jolly good time celebrating. :)
