Jacob initiated the first contact between the two after a friend pointed him in Lauren's direction. Lauren was very hesitant but after her mom gave her some (much needed and much appreciated) advice, she decided to give in and go on a date with him. After that first date, they were inseparable. Jacob graduated in 2019 and then Lauren graduated a year later. They moved into their first apartment together in 2020 and then into a house with friends before finally settling in Sellersburg. Along the way they adopted two fur babies, Pickles and Walter. After four years together, Lauren was starting to wonder if Jacob was ever going to propose. On their fourth anniversary, Jacob took Lauren to a fancy restaurant in Louisville. Lauren joked around at dinner saying "do you want to fake propose so we can get free dessert?" Jacob laughed it off because he knew what was to come later. As we were walking to our apartment, Lauren turned around and saw Jacob on one knee. It wasn't until after he said the words "will you marry me" that she really believed him. On the verge of tears, Lauren saw two of her friends pop-up from in-between cars taking pictures. And the rest is history!
